[LACKADAISICAL HIP-HOP] The Grouch is one of the founding fathers of Los Angeles’ Living Legends flock, a consortium of laid-back hip-hop artists including Eligh, who has had a heavy hand in the production of Grouch and Eligh’s recent collaborative albums together. Say G & E!, the duo’s latest album, features a plethora of guest artists (Pigeon John, Flying Lotus) and showcases a more introspective, grownup Grouch rapping about his family and being a conscious recycler. Maybe he’ll drive up to Portland in his vegetable-oil-powered truck. SARA MOSKOVITZ. 8:30 pm. 231 SW Ankeny St., 248-4579. $13 advance, $15 day of show. All ages.

[^^^]The BellRays, The Family Gun, Thee Headliners
[MOTOR CITY VIA SOCAL] If Iggy Pop had been born a large, soulful black woman, we never would have gotten the Stooges. Instead, we would’ve had the BellRays decades sooner. Even though the group hails from Riverside, Calif., the band is classic Detroit, playing charging, no-bullshit rock ’n’ roll, anchored by the powerful belting of singer Lisa Kekaula. With her towering ‘fro and general intensity, squint enough and it’ll look like you’re at a vintage MC5 show. Portland’s Family Gun aims for a similar form of throwback revivalism, aping the Stones with studied precision. MATTHEW SINGER. 9:30 pm. 1 SW 3rd Ave., 226-6630. $8 advance, $10 day of show. 21+.

[^^^]The Quick & Easy Boys, Scotland Barr & the Slow Drags
[GOOD ‘OL BOYS] Finally, some country without the “alt” prefix. Still rolling off their down-home, barnhouse record All the Great Aviators Agree, Scotland Barr & the Slow Drags are at your service, quick to scrub away any woes with their rusted rock ballads and trigger-happy guitar solos. They love to break it down, slide guitar and all, to the point of sounding like a distant jukebox, playing from a truck stop in Oklahoma. A recent bill shared with Clem Snide assures the band is all in when it comes to country. MARK STOCK. 9 pm. 830 E Burnside St., 231-9663. Free. 21+.

[^^^]I Saw Them When: Company of Thieves
[PORTRAIT OF DORIAN GRAY] With middling buzz borne upon single “Oscar Wilde” (which does not, shall we say, declare its genius) and the captivating allure of frontgal Genevieve Schatz (an evolutionary step forward from Parker Posey), Company of Thieves’ debut, Ordinary Riches, hasn’t an original moment; the songcraft’s almost numbingly professional enough to distract from lyrical banalities, and, during live performances, that shall matter not at all. We are all in the gutter, but some of us, quite rightly, are looking at the star. JAY HORTON. 9 pm. 1332 W Burnside St., 225-0047. $9.47. 21+.

[^^^]Coffins, Stormcrow, Thrones, Aldebaran
[WE'RE FROM JAPAN] Coffins is a Japanese band that does death metal better than most of its U.S. allies. You know the sound: slow, lurching, super-heavy riffs coated in fuzz and thunderous drum breaks. The band is not really breaking any new ground, but it doesn’t come off as derivative as much as just really good at what it does. Remember the Tokyo of Lost in Translation? If Bill Murray had listened to these guys instead of, like, Air, the ending would probably be more violent. Yeah, I said it. MICHAEL MANNHEIMER. 8 pm. 125 NW 6th Ave., 231-1606. $10. All ages.
