A Weather: Anonymous Angus Jalapeno Burger (Western Texas)
Hi there,
I’m writing to you all from the Carlsbad Inn in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Sarah and Lou are watching the HBO show True Blood which is about vampires. We went for a night swim in the Carlsbad Inn heated swimming pool which was not really heated at all. There were birds squawking in the trees by the pool that I assumed were New Mexican Chickens. We had a really good all-ages show last night at Emo’s in Austin. The crowd was really enthusiastic and even applauded halfway through one of our new songs after what they thought was a guitar solo. As we were leaving the club at around 2:30 in the morning there was a bit of a fight happening at the hip-hop club across the alley. A few minutes later there were gun shots from down the street.
The guys from the New Year are quiet and very nice. Last night the Kadane brothers were talking about barbecue restaurants, discussing the subtle differences between two types of barbecue sauces.
We had a long drive today through Western Texas. The towns were far apart and most of them felt deserted. We stopped in Pecos for dinner. The downtown store fronts were all empty. Blocks and blocks of nothing open. We ended up eating horrible food at a Sonic drive-in which was pretty crowded, probably because it is the only open restaurant in the whole town. I had the Supersonic cheeseburger, Anonymous had the Angus Jalapeno burger, tater tots and a Java Chiller. Lou asked to remain anonymous in this blog because he is not proud nor does he condone this type of food, but there is literally nothing else to eat in Pecos, Texas.
In a few days our other guitar player AK (Aaron Krenkel) flies down to meet us in L.A. for the last four shows of the tour. We are very excited to have him with us again.
-Aaron
