Cafeteria Dance Fever and Hey Lover Do Europe: Road Warrior Meets Saturday Market (Copenhagen and Oslo)
Good evening ladies and gentlemen of the bleeaaghosphere. This is Cain, on behalf of Cafeteria Dance Fever, touring Europe with fellow Hovercraft recording artists Hey Lover. Tonight we find ourselves in Oslo, Norway after five nights of drunken debauchery (or in my case sober bauchery, or botchery even. Not to mention butchery, mostly of songs), three wild punk shows, and about 15 U-turns. I’m glad I’m too stupid to drive, ‘cuz the streets here in Europe are a bewildering labyrinth of tortuous contortions, with street names that change every five blocks. And they’re not well-suited for a giant (though not big enough) two-band van. The first show was Copenhagen, in the cool city-within-a-city, Christiana. It was a lawless counterculture paradise, sort of Road Warrior meets Saturday Market. We played a venue called Loppen, opening for Hey Lover. Let me tell you, the crowd there tolerated us as we’ve never been tolerated before! Actually it was pretty much a typical Cafeteria Dance Fever concert. Maybe less blood than usual. Maybe we would do better in Herning. To be continued…
In the meantime, here’s a nice batch of photos from the gang’s first few adventures:
