Sleep on What is Perhaps the Best Penny Jam Ever (Video)

sleepIt seems like things are finally going Sleep’s way. The Oldominion MC is performing at this year’s PDX Pop Now! festival, has some off-the-record tightness a-brewin’ (we hope to tell you more about that stuff soon), and he was just selected by the fantastic Penny Jam video blog as their very first hip-hop performer. It also happens to be the most scenic video yet in the series (or at least ties in prettiness with the Ascetic Junkies’ performance under the St. John’s bridge).

Seen here with his regular turntablist, DJ Zone, Sleep opens with the intro from Christopher, a tune that is going to kill at PDX Pop, and wraps things up with “Daydreamer,” a track about that’s new to me (sounds like Josh Martinez on virtual backup vocals though, so it could be from an upcoming Chicharones or Sleep joint). Sit back, light up if you must, but enjoy:

Let’s just be clear here: This is one of the Northwest’s all-time best, and he’s just now hitting his stride. Props to the Penny Jam crew for seeking him out. Here’s to the future!
