OK, Tea For Julie Might Not Be So Bad
I gotta say, I thought I remembered not enjoying the music of Portland’s Tea for Julie (playing tonight at Doug Fir, see below). Dunno if they got better or I got soft or what, but the Portland pop/shoegaze outfit sounds an awful lot better on Dave Kusick’s podcast, That Sound, than they do in my mind. So I’m gonna do my music writer duty and actually check out the new album, The Sense in Tying Knots. Because I like Dave, a regular LocalCut reader (we know that because he’s nice enough to link to us when he uses Cut of the Day songs on his show!). Between his take and that of WW’s Robert Ham, they got me to give TFJ a real second listen.
You can hear Dave’s podcast here.
Or rock out at TJF’s MySpace page.
Or better yet, see it for yourself a few hours from now: Tea for Julie celebrates the release of The Sense in Tying Knots tonight with Crosstide and the Turn-Ons at the Doug Fir. 9 pm. $8. 21+.

And thanks, I like you too. We’ll have to actually meet sometime.

says:There a great band! Your paper’s tone can get so nasty and snobbish sometimes. I’m glad they’re getting their due.
