PDX Pop Now! Headed Back to School
Last time PDX Pop Now! hit Parkrose Middle School, the kids went nuts. I mean nuts. You’d think Soul P was the Beatles. This year, the Portland non-profit (which puts on a free, all-ages three-day local concert each summer) is headed back to the school where PDX Pop Now! co-founder/organizer Cary Clarke teaches when he’s not booking bands and keeping tabs on the local music scene.
This year’s event at Parkrose Middle School Friday, May 23 with the YACHT, Ohmega Watts, World’s Greatest Ghosts and Soul P (the “P” is for Paul McCartney). It’ll be closed to the public, but we’ll see if we can’t get some shots of kids going crazy nonetheless.
The PDX Pop event is one of a handful of charity events for YACHT, who’s also playing a music in the schools benefit at the Crystal Ballroom on May 30. That event is open to the public, and also features Blue Scholars, the Shaky Hands, rap battle champ Illmaculate and more. Then YACHT plays Westview High in Beaverton on June 3 (also open to the public). It’s all for the kids, man!
