Video: Dykeritz rocks the Grass Hut

l_9ca045877821ab6bec71560e8f9df849Remember when MTV used to show music videos? It’s been years since the “M” in the title stood for something besides, umm, manufactured. But one good thing has risen from the ashes of Lauren Conrad’s tears: Eschewing big budgets and big names, videos have gone the quick route straight to the internet—and thanks to the like of La Blogotheque’s Take Away Shows and the Black Cab Sessions—have seen a recent creative revival with quick and spontaneous takes of band’s performing songs in an unusual setting.

Local video blog Penny Jamworks from the same concept, and in each episode the crew films a different band playing in an unconventional performance space. For episode number seven, they’ve captured the brand spanking new keyboard heavy jam “Big Drapes” from Dykeritz’s forthcoming album Rearrangerologyistics (out July 8 ) in the Grass Hut art gallery on East Burnside. And shit, is the song rad; all swirling harmonies and lush snyth strings. With warm weather finally upon us, this is quite the way to start the summer.

You just gotta love any band that rocks the head set mics!
