Southerly: Gatwick is for Lovers (London, England)

Gatwick Casey
May 12th, 2008

Yesterday:

It’s eight in the morning on Sunday, May 11th in the year 2008. I awake to pounding on my front door, a Hungarian swing melody blaring from my cell phone and multiple missed calls and text messages from Casey [Montgomery].

Walk downstairs, start the pot of coffee and get myself together as best I can with a reality still deeply rooted in my subconscious. A quick cowboy bath, a few cups of coffee and a couple of cigarettes on the front porch. The day is starting out beautifully in PDX with the sun shining and it being relatively warm. I may even burn my right arm a little on our way to the airport.

Today:

Casey and I are now nearing the seventh inning stretch of our layover at the ever hospitable Gatwick Airport in London. We booked our flights in/out of London with a bit of a cushion to get cheaper tickets and are using it as a jump-off and home-base for other flights to start and end the tour. This led to a bit of an extended stay here.

We may head out shortly to the small burg of Crawley for pints which is between the airport and London proper.

No worries, though. The beers are being chilled for us in Amsterdam, awaiting their own departure tomorrow night to de hotel Krueger en Montgomery maag.

Back to my cheese crackers and coffee!
