Los Dandies Warhols, those Cinco de Mayo-loving fellas with the groovy hair, are dropping some new ish soon, and the promotional blitz starts today. The album is called Earth to the Dandy Warhols (I hope to god it’s not capitalized a la the press release), and it’ll hit stores this summer on their own label, Beat The World Records (provided they don’t flip out and re-record everything at the last minute). Will it blow up huge? Will it flop completely? We Portlanders have little say in the matter, but let’s go ahead and judge the Dandies by their debut single, “The World The People Together (Come On),” shall we?

So yeah, the press release below has a ton more than you needed to know, including the fact that you can now listen to the full album at AMI jukeboxes (are those the terrible internet jukeboxes that cost like a dollar a song and sound like shit? Jeez, is there anything worse—in the entire universe—than those jukeboxes? Way to contribute to the eradication of legit jukes, Dandy Warhols!). I assume the Earth thing above (grabbed from DandySpace) is the cover art. And it sounds like they’ll be playing another Portland show in June. So there you go. Enjoy!

CELEBRATE CINCO DE MAYO IN STYLE…

The Dandy Warhols are back and ushering in a rockin’ return to
form with EARTH TO THE DANDY WARHOLS, the band’s debut album as
masters of their own destiny. Pulling together the diverse sounds
and influences that have always characterized their music, it’s
quintessential Dandys, and it’s set to be self-released this
summer via the Dandys’ newly minted Beat The World Records.

The Dandy Warhols will kick off their 2008 touring extravaganza
with a Pacific Northwest run in June, followed by European
Festival dates in July, and a fall North American tour.
