Photo Review: Starfucker and Guidance Counselor at Cha Cha Lounge (Seattle), Feb. 17, 2008
So here we have it! The first Seattle show for everyone’s favorite pedal pushing pop trio, Starfucker [Editor's Note: We just like typing that name]. This show was a long time in the making after a cancelled Seahawk show, originally scheduled for September 2007 with Nire, didn’t come to fruition.
What all went down? Well, Guidance Counselor (stage name of Ian Anderson) lost his voice at a show in Olympia the night before, so he was a bit hoarse and even the mic had a hard time carrying his voice to the masses packed into the basement of Cha Cha. But what Anderson lacked in voice, he made up for with energy. There was even a bit of a split set between Starfucker and Guidance Counselor during their transition, with Anderson singing a song before giving way to the vocal harmonies of Josh Hodges and Starfucker co-pilot Ryan Bjornstead.
The turnout either reflected the fact that it was a free show or the Portland talent on tap. I’m gonna go with the latter.
