Official Statements from Swan Island on Hiatus

swan islandWould you expect anything less than poetry from Swan Island upon the occasion of their “indefinite hiatus”?

Official statement from singer Brisa Gonzalez:

If balance, unity, direction and happiness could be achieved again with Swan Island, then we could still live there. When we have those things in our selves, we are able to project and magnify them. Until that time, all Swans go in their separate directions, grateful for the opportunity to have had made something of our hopes and dreams that we could subtly shift into the larger creative consciousness.

And a more straightforward response from guitarist Aubree Bernier-Clarke:

Swan Island is going on an indefinite hiatus. We do not know what the future holds, but no doubt it will bring us together again in some incarnation. We are debuting our music video for Night Owl, a song very special to us, at the show Thursday, and are very excited to share it with our friends and community.

There ya have it. Not a lot of new information, but it sounds like the band’s premature death was due to natural causes. Again, the Swans last show will be with the Shaky Hands at their double video premier at the Holocene this Thursday.
