Ghostface, Cat Power and More to Play Extra Musicfest Shows. Thanks, Nike!
When, exactly, did Nike get cool? I know they were cool when I was thirteen, for sure, and then there was awhile when they were totally not cool. Now they’re way cooler than me—friends with Cat Power and Ghostface, even! I’m sure there’ll be swooshes aplenty at these special, early, Audiocinema shows, but who cares! They’re free with a wristband (if you can get in—PDX Pop Now taught us that AC’s capacity is surprisingly small) and they’re all-ages!
The extra shows Nike and Musicfest NW announced today are pretty incredible, and add a big thick slice of radberry pie to an already enticing buffet. Cat Power and Bobby Bare Jr.?! Ghostface and the Bronx!? Sweet Deerhunter on Grizzly Bear action!? What more could we ask for?
And I am seriously not just saying this because I work for the fest’s parent company. I’ll let them tell you more, though:

“As a long term resident of Oregon we are excited to support the Musicfest NW Festival. It’s an important event sharing the same seeds of rebellion, creativity, and just plain fun that Nike was built on,” said a Nike spokesperson.
MFNW organizer, Trevor Solomon concludes, “Musicfest NW is thrilled to partner with NIKE in presenting these exclusive live sets from such a cool line-up. NIKE understands MFNW’s devotion to bringing amazing and diverse music to the festival and we hope that people will enjoy these shows in addition to the festival.”
