Stars of Track and Field and Floater to Headline Last Day of Music Millennium NW

Stars of Track & Field Not only are there going to be some nutty sales (40% off!) this coming Friday—the last day of Music Millennium Northwest’s existence, it’ll be musically nutty as well. And even more crowded. Space pop outfit Stars of Track and Field (note: I think I used to call them space rock, but now that they’re on a never ending tour cycle and on the radio and whatnot, they get to be space pop. Sorry, guys!) will join moss-rockers, Floater (I just like typing moss rock), to end the store’s 30 year run.

This was not, as the publicist below had suggested, already on my radar. Probably because I have a bad habit of ignoring faxes, and Music Millennium always sends faxes. I will miss those faxes quite a bit.

The NW 23rd Music Millennium Location Says Farewell with Musical and Merchandise Blow-Out Celebration

Headliners include Stars of Track and Field, Floater; CDs, DVDs, vinyl 40% off

PORTLAND, Ore. – Aug. 24, 2007 – Now through Friday, Aug. 31, the NW 23rd location of Music Millennium (801 NW 23rd Ave.) will feature dozens of top musical acts in its legendary in-store performance venue to mark the NW store’s closure. This “thank you” to the local music community, and celebration of the continued success of Millennium’s Eastside location (3158 E. Burnside), will feature headliners Stars of Track and Field and Floater from 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. on Friday, Aug, 31, the store’s last day of business.

In related news, Common has been shot!!!!

And by that I mean a cardboard display of Chicago MC, Common, was shot with a pellet gun through the window of Music Millennium’s Eastside store last week. No word on whether the shooter was pissed about Common’s new, Starbucks-endorsed album, or if they just thought he had a shootable face (I know I get that all the time). An anonymous Music Millennium employee says that some employees were told to “stop putting displays of rappers in the front windows.”

Okay, see you at the SOTAF/Floater show. I’ll be the guy getting sloppy drunk in the Jazz section. What are they gonna do, ban me for life?
