Photo Review: Yachting with YACHT on a Yacht
[EDITOR’S NOTE: In an attempt to turn LocalCut entirely over to YACHT, we present Jaclyn Campanaro’s outstanding photo journal of this weekend’s YACHT on a yacht party.]
Saturday’s YACHT on a YACHT celebration in honor of the new YACHT release “I Believe in You. Your Magic is Real” was nothing short of, dare I say, Magical. DJ Beyonda kicked off the party as we cruised the Willamette on the upper deck of the Crystal Dolphin with the wind in our hair, cold beers in our hands and sweet beats in our hearts.
At sunset the party migrated below deck where Beyonda spun the room into a floating frenzy as the Portland skyline glided by outside its windows. Los Angeles’ Bobby Birdman followed up with his signature swoon- and dance-worthy songs, and the handsome crooner didn’t miss a beat even when the subwoofer overheated and the speakers went out. “You know, the Marines have a motto,” he told the captive assemblage, “adapt, improvise and overcome!” And so our voices and clapping hands filled in where technology had failed us.
We were already headed back to dock when the Man of the Hour, Jona Bechtolt, took the tiny stage and thanked everyone aboard, saying the experience was “literally a dream, and you made it happen!” before launching into the frantic “It’s Coming to Get You” and being hoisted up onto the hands of the crowd, his knees and elbows hitting the low ceiling as he sang–this was YACHT, crowd-surfing…on a YACHT. This is Bechtolt’s magic, and he’s keeping it real.

Jona in disbelief of all that has happened.

Final view from the YACHT at dusk.

Saying good-bye to the Crystal Dolphin on the way to Disjecta.

says:You’ll love this, Casey: the subwoofer blew out halfway through Bobby Birdman’s set. It was smoking and the whole lower deck of the yacht smelled like burning electronics. He said he would have to take a break to let the speaker cool down. You can probably guess what happened next; it involved a lot of people singing and snapping together.
